On Monday, May 4th, the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board began interviewing the top 5 superintendent candidates. The School Board will release interviews for Leslie Brown, Nakia Towns Edwards, Adam Smith, Quentina Timoll, and Marshall Tuck on Friday, May 8th.

Continuing a push for community engagement and an equity-minded superintendent, SLCE released "report cards" detailing how candidates align with priorities that surfaced in their survey of students, families, educators, and community stakeholders. We are urging community members to engage with school board members to express your thoughts, concerns, and questions about various candidates.

Our hope is that this release will encourage community members to seek more information by watching interviews when released and contacting school board members to provide feedback. We have been advocating for community engagement & the selection of an equity-minded leader since this process began in December. We released these report cards to engage the community in discussion surrounding the candidates’ commitment to priorities gathered in our community survey.

We hope our school board will continue to engage the community and ask questions regarding these priorities during the interview process.
